It has been a rainy week and so there's been time for indoors activities. Most of this has been prepping some dragoons and musketeers, for which there's little to show as yet. However, the test figures for my Freicorps Le Noble are finally complete, as shown in the accompanying photo.
Officer and Private, Freicorps
The one mistake that bothers me is with the officer's sword: I've not beaten it flat consistently enough along its length. The lower part of it has therefore come out a little too wide, imparting a rather odd shape. It doesn't show up at wargames ranges though so I'll let it pass. Having satisfied myself that I have a method for converting these figures that is within my abilities, the rest of the regiment will be included in my next order to Tradition.

Very attractive uniforms. As for the sword, why should it not be of a shape peculiar to your realm? ;)
I concur! Lovely uniform, and the sword may very well be a non-regulation item, which officers surely acquired one way or another. Can't wait to see the rest of the unit once painted.

The Brigadier Gerard stories are some of favorite historical adventures. Have always meant to paint the Hussars Conflans. Hmmmm, maybe I'll do this for my next hussar regiment and have three squadrons on loan to the Grand Duchy of Stollen from France. What say you?
It's a tempting thought, although Etienne Gerard, with his cries of "vive L'Empereur", might be a little too firmly rooted in the Napoleonic period. There again, I'm probably just demonstrating my usual pedantry on just about anything.

The double-blue works surprisingly well. I may bear that in mind for future use - thanks for the inspiration!
